How do I volunteer to DofE?
If you would like to volunteer for the DofE then please contact your nearest Licensed Organisation directly. Ask at your child’s school, college, university or youth club – if they don’t already deliver DofE, they might consider setting it up. These people setup and manage the DofE in a centre.
How many hours of volunteering do you need for DofE?
As a rule of thumb, a three month section equates to at least 13 hours of activity, six months to 26 hours and 12 months to 52 hours.
Can you change your DofE volunteering?
Yes, if you decide to change activity (and have had approval from your Leader) then you just need to complete the new activity for the remaining time. For example, if your Volunteering section is 6 months, and you had already been volunteering for 4 months, you will only need to do the new activity for 2 months.
Does tutoring count as Volunteering for DofE?

Volunteering is simple. It’s about choosing to give time to help people, the community or society, the environment or animals. Your volunteering must not be done for a business but can be undertaken for a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
Can parents be assessors DofE?
They must be independent. Therefore, they cannot be a member of your family. An Assessor can be anyone who is interested in helping you to achieve, has some knowledge of the activity you are doing and can be available over the time you’re doing it.
